I began a spray tanning business in Lake Mary named Shimmer Place in 2010. I was looking around for a business to begin that I could have when I retire from teaching. My nail tech wanted to learn spray tanning; therefore, I decided I could back her financially while I was still teaching and get the business up and running. As a teacher of economics, I realized that a business takes a while before it makes a profit so it all seemed perfect. Remember the old adage if it seems to good to be true, it is. I quickly learned this and about topics I had been teaching. Topics such as partnerships rarely work, don't do business with friends, research your idea thoroughly, get things in writing and be careful who you trust.
I soon moved out the spa that I was renting space from and had to find a new tanning specialist. I experienced many ups and downs but did find an excellent place with reasonable rent. Starting all over was tough but I was determined. Now there's Shimmer Place @ Anna's Cabana (a name I originally wanted but listened to too many people) and in a very excellent environment. April is an awesome spray tanning specialist. She is also an artist; therefore, your customized spray tan is like a picture being painted. When you leave the Cabana you feel sexy without the risk of skin cancer and a beautiful painting to be admired. Come check us out.www.facebook.com/shimmerplace
